A typical label construction consist of :

1. Topcoat - A polymeric application to the substrate so as to provide a functional surface.
2. Substrate - Carrier for topcoating & adhesive.
3. Adhesive - Attaches the label to the surface and can be part of the functional product.
4. Liner - Support and protect the adhesive. Also as carriers for the label.
